The Age of Silicon

The Age of Silicon is an option in the Physics Higher School Certificate (HSC) syllabus defined by the state government education board (Board of Studies) in New South Wales, Australia. Other physics options are: Geophysics, Medical Physics, Astrophysics and From Quanta to Quarks. The content of this option is basically an introduction to electronics.

This module increases students’ understanding of the applications and uses of physics, the implications of physics for society and the environment, and current issues, research and developments in physics.

* Voltage divider
* Transistor
* Photoresistor
* Thermistors
* Relay
* Light-emitting diode (LED)
* Logic gate
* Operational amplifier.

This option is not covered by any school textbook.
