Arab culture in France

People of Arabic descent currently make up about 2% of the population in France, predominantly in the south, around Marseille, Toulon and Nice, and in the capital, Paris.

Islamic fundamentalism is a sensitive topic in France, with the ethnic French condemning fundamentalism as a threat.Lopsided|date=August 2007. Following cases of conflicts about Muslim girls breaching school dress regulations or refusing to attend certain classes, the French government adopted a statute prohibiting the wearing of religious symbols in public primary and secondary schools; "see French law on secularity and conspicuous religious symbols in schools"
