Faisal Ali

Syed Faisal Ali has an M.A. degree in English literature, M.B.A. (Personnel) and LL.B as his educational background. Presently, working as Editor in Arab News, he has extensively covered elections in India from Gujarat to Kashmir. For past several years he has been covering Haj not only for Arab News but also for several other newspapers and TV channels. He has been associated BBC for the past several years and has also been contributing to many Indian and international newspapers and news channels like French Liberty, Czech TV, Dawn TV, Geo TV, NDTV, CNN-IBN, Star News, India TV and Tehelka fortnightly.

He has a penchant for writing on socio-political issues of India, Pakistan and Middle East and has garnered a reputation as an analyst on Middle East, particularly, Iraq. He is a familiar face on leading TV channels for comments on Iraq situation.

He belongs to a reputed family of Bihar in India. His grandfather Maulana Syed Reyasat Ali Nadvi, was a renowned Islamic scholar and author of over 20 widely-acclaimed books on Islamic and world history. He was closely associated with Nadwatul Uloom, Lucknow, and then shifted to Darul Musanaffeen, Shibli Manzil, Azamgarh, and later took over as principal of renowned Madrasa Shamsul Hoda, Patna. He was closely associated with Indian freedom movement and was personal friend of Keshav Deo Malviya, Pandit Algu Rai Shastri, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Abul Kalam Azad and Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was member of the UPCC along with Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Pandit Govind Vallabh Pant and Rafi Ahmad Kidwai.

Faisal’s father, Syed Ashahad Ali practices law at Patna High Court. Member, Bihar State Minorities Commission. He is founder member of several colleges and schools in Bihar.
