History

XE is headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario. It was founded in 1993 by Steven Dengler, who currently serves as CEO, and Beric Farmer, who currently serves as President. Its name at founding was Xenon Laboratories Incorporated, and it registered the [http://www.xe.com/ xe.com] domain name in early 1995, choosing the letters XE from the two-letter atomic symbol for Xenon. In early 2001, as the Internet became more prevalent, the company formally changed its name to XE.com Inc.

Intellectual Property and Trademarks

Much of the intellectual property pertaining to XE is held by XE Corporation, a related company also based in Newmarket. For example, XE licenses the XE logo and domain name from XE Corporation. XE Corporation also owns the XE trademark, which is claimed worldwide and registered in a number of regions including the United States, Canada, the European Union, and China.
