The second season of The Mole originally aired from February 21, 2001 to April 25, 2001. It took place in Victoria and was also hosted by Bowler. This season featured a unique first episode, one that started with sixteen potential players starting in groups of four from different places in Australia and needing to get to a designated hotel by a time limit. Along the way, they were presented with dossiers from members of another group, and at the hotel they all took a computer test based on general knowledge about all sixteen people. The six lowest scorers were eliminated, and the other ten, one of whom was the Mole, moved on to the rest of the season as normal. The maximum prize was again $200,000.

*Alan Mason, season one's mole, made cameo appearances in the first and reunion episodes. In the first, he gave tips on how to figure out whom the mole is. In the reunion, he compared himeself to Michael L. "molewise".

Contestants

Hotel Huntdown: The players are split into 4 teams of 4 and are in different locations in Australia. The groups mission is to get to a hotel in Victoria by 4:00 PM. They are given $500 each, and may not use more than the budget. They also must use at least 5 methods of transportation, and each must take them at least 1 kilometer. If the players break any of the rules or fail to make it to the hotel, the entire group is eliminated.

Pre-Elimination: During the first mission, the players are given dossier cards about the players that are not in their group. The player may asks the players in their group for their information and photocopy the dossier cards. They must memorize as much information about the other players as possible, or else they will score low on the computer quiz. Players may also lie about themselves to have a greater chance of making it to the next episode. The six people who score lowest are eliminated.

Episode 8

Two-Up Dares: The players are each required to complete 1 of 4 tasks. The game of Two-Up will determine their tasks. Heads is the easier task, and tails is the harder task, as well as the more stessful. One-by-one, the players are asked to chose and envolope. Then, they will throw the coins into the air. Whatever the coins land on will determine the task. All four players must complete their tasks to win. The tasks are:

1A. Heads - Paint your face
1B. Tails - Paint your entire body (Michael L.)

2A. Heads - Dye your hair (Hal)
2B. Tails - Shave your entire head

3A. Heads - Pierce your eyebrow (Mal)
3B. Tails - Get a permanent tattoo

4. The Trio Task (Brooke: 1A, 2A, and 3A)

Hitchcock Hotel: The players are locked into 4 different rooms and must escape with a name (Alfred Hitchcock). Inside each room is a safe and a mobile phone with each of the player's numbers on it. Also in the rooms are different clues. Examples are an exercise bicycle (Michael L.), a video tape inside a VCR (Mal), a safe combination on a shower screen (Brooke), and pieces of paper with writing (Hal). One of the rooms (Hal), is completely omitted of light, yet that room contains the keys to open that room's door. If the players figure out the name and escape on time, they will win.

Capture the Flags: The players are split into 3 groups: a timekeeper (Brooke), two flag retrievers (Hal and Michael L.), and a time replenisher (Mal). The flag retrievers job is to cross a ravine using 2 boards and the stools on the ravine to make it to the flags. They must also make it back to the other side in time The timekeeper watches the time, which is a liquid dispenser filled with blue-dyed water. If the water ceases to flow, the mission is over. The time replenishers job is to ride an ATV through the forest until he reaches some jugs. The jugs varies in amounts of water, and only one jug is allowed to be brought back per trip. If the flag retrievers make it to the other side before time is up, the players win.

Episode 9

Wingover Airplane: Each of the players must take the controls of an airplane, and perform a maneuver called a wingover. However, only the first person will be taught by an instructor (Hal). The other two must be taught by the person before (Michael L. then Brooke). All three must perform the stunt, and must be passed by the instructor. If the plane goes out of control, the instructor takes over the and mission is lost.
