Jamal Reynolds (born February 20, 1979), is a former American football defensive end for the Green Bay Packers of the NFL.

High School

Played for the Aiken High School Green Hornets and won a state Championship in 1996. Then declared himself to be "the greatest defense end the world has ever seen, period" said Jamal Reynolds.

College

Reynolds played defensive end for Florida State University from 1997-2000. In his senior year, he won the Lombardi Award and was a finalist for College Football News' Defensive Player of the Year award. In that year, Reynolds accumulated a career high 12 sacks and 58 tackles.

His strong college pedigree led the Green Bay Packers to select him with the 10th overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft. The Packers acquired the draft pick from the Seattle Seahawks, in exchange for Matt Hasselback and the 17th overall selection in the draft. Among the players selected after Reynolds that the Packers passed on were linebacker Dan Morgan, defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, guard Steve Hutchinson, cornerback Nate Clements, and tight end Todd Heap, all of whom have gone on to be stars in the NFL.

Professional

Injuries and the emergence of Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, however, prevented Reynolds from playing the first ten games of his rookie season. He finished his rookie season with four tackles and 2 sacks. On July 8, 2004, after two seasons in which Reynolds totalled only one sack and played in only 12 games, the Packers attempted to trade Reynolds to the Indianapolis Colts. However, the trade was declared void after Reynolds failed the Colts' physical examination. Ten days later, the Packers released Reynolds, and he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns, who hoped to salvage the still-young Reynolds' career. Reynolds was cut by the Browns before the beginning of the 2004 season, and has not played in the NFL since.

Reynolds was the ignominious final first round draft pick of general manager Ron Wolf, who is typically remembered as an excellent judge of talent, and is most famous for engineering the trade that brought an unknown backup quarterback named Brett Favre to Green Bay. Alas, Reynolds' most enduring NFL legacy is the nickname applied by Packer fans: Jamal "Too Small" Reynolds, as he had the small body of a speed rusher but lacked the quickness and burst off the line of scrimmage to beat larger offensive linemen.
