Louisiana Literature

Louisiana Literature is a major literary magazine, consistently rated by Writers Digest as a top-50 market in both fiction and poetry. Founded in 1984 by the Southeastern Louisiana University, it publishes fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction quarterly. [Novelists Among SLU Magazine Contributors, "The Advocate" (Baton Rouge), August 3, 1999. ] Its editor, as of September 2008, is Jack Bedell.

Honors and Awards

* Robert Olen Butler's short story, "Heavy Metal", was reprinted in "New Stories from the South 2000".
* Jacob M. Appel's short story, "Counting", was short-listed for the O. Henry Award in 2001.
* R.T. Smith's short story, "Tastes Like Chicken", appeared in "New Stories from the South 2006".
