Tom Chivers

Tom Chivers is a British poet, editor and live literature promoter. Born 1983 in South London, he was educated at St Anne's College, Oxford University, and currently lives and works in East London. He is Director of [http://www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk Penned in the Margins] , Co-Director of [http://www.londonwordfestival.com London Word Festival] , Editor of [http://www.litro.co.uk Litro] and Associate Editor of [http://www.myspace.com/tearsinthefence Tears in the Fence] . In 2008 he was the first ever Poet in Residence at The Bishopsgate Institute. He was the editor of [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Generation-Txt-Joe-Dunthorne/dp/0955384613 Generation Txt] (Penned in the Margins, 2006).

Tom's poetry has been published in Stride, Fire, Nthposition, Dreams That Money Can Buy, Trespass, The London Magazine, Keystone, The Reader, The Libertine, The Wolf, The Edgeless Shape, X-Magazine, Nottingham Poetry International, Treci Trg (Serbia), Tears in the Fence, The Alchemy of the Verb, Charm Offensive, Dawntreader, automatic-lighthouse (Tall Lighthouse) and Babylon Burning: 9/11 Five Years On (Nthposition).

A sequence entitled 'The Terrors' is forthcoming from Nine Arches Press.

Critical work and appearances

His reviews and critical essays have been published in Culture Wars, Poetry News, CEN Magazine, Arts Professional and Poetry London. He has appeared on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, BBC London and LBC. In 2005-6 he presented a weekly show devoted to poetry and spoken word on Resonance FM. He is a regular performer of his work and has been booked to read at Essex Poetry Festival, Plum, South Bank Centre's Poetry International, Hackney Literature Festival, The Battle of Ideas, London Poetry Festival, Langoustine est Morte and many other events.
