Prophethood

Prophethood is the word used to reference the institution by which "God" sends emissaries, or "Prophets", to guide mankind. Use of the word is almost always theological.

Usage in Islam

The view of "Prophethood" (Arabic: نبوة‎ Transliteration: Nubuwwah) in Islam is broadly seen as an institution by which God sends Prophets to guide mankind and the jinn to absolute peace and perfection, or "complete submission to God". The overall definition varies according to each denomination.

Denominational:

Shi`ah Islam:
* Prophethood (Twelver Shi`i Doctrine) - The doctrine of Prophethood according to Twelver Shi`ah Islam.
* Prophethood (Ismaili Shi`i Doctrine) - The doctrine of Prophethood according to Ismaili Shi`ah Islam.
* Prophethood (Zaydi Shi`i Doctrine) - The doctrine of Prophethood according to Zaydi Shi`ah Islam.

Sunni Islam: The doctrine of Prophethood according to Sunni Islam.

Ahmadi Islam: The doctrine of Prophethood according to Ahmadi Islam.
