83rd parallel north

The 83rd parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 83 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane.

It is situated almost entirely within the Arctic Ocean, but it does pass through the northernmost parts of Ellesmere Island (passing some 60 km north of Alert, Nunavut) and Greenland. The two islands are separated by the Lincoln Sea.
Cape Columbia at 83° 7′N is the northernmost point of Canada, and Cape Morris Jesup at 83°38′N is the northernmost point of Greenland.

Kaffeklubben Island at 83°40′N is the the most northerly point of land on earth, situated some 700 km from the North Pole.
