Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde

Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde is the current Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa. She was elected to the position on September 25, 2008, succeeding Baleka Mbete who was appointed as Deputy President of South Africa; previously, she served as Deputy Speaker since 23 April 2004.

Mahlangu-Nkabinde was succeeded as Deputy Speaker by former Deputy Health Minster Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge.
