Church of Nativity of The Most Holy Theotokos in Novaci, Serbia

Church of Nativity of The Most Holy Theotokos ( Serbian:Црква Рођења Пресвете Богородице) in village Novaci, Serbia was built on 1857 AD. It is devoted to Nativity of The Most Holy Theotokos(Virgin Mary), which feast day is September 21 ( September 8, Julian calendar).

History

Feast day

The feast day of the church and all village Novaci is day of nativity Virgin Mary, September 21(Gregorian calendar) or September 8(Julian calendar). That holliday was named "Mala Gospojina", literaly- "Little Our Lady-day".

Frescos

Church is painted in 1937 by famous Russian painter Andrej Bicenko. Bicenko was escaped from Russia due to October revolution and was living in Serbia from 1920 to 1951 whene he was painted many fresco paintings. The most interesting fresco is "Lord of Sabbath" when Jesus and Disciples walking through grainfields on Sabbath day.
