Earth Alpha

Earth Alpha

Earth Alpha Theory is the hypothesis, first put forward in the 2007 Jukes-Haney paper "The Earth's Inner Life", that the Earth's Temperature Gradient is the result of decaying organic matter within the Earth's core. It is referred to as the Earth Alpha theory because it additionally asserts that the core was once in fact an entire planet itself, an "Earth Alpha", and that the mantle and crust were the result of repeated collisions with Asteroids and Planetoids. The paper, and the subsequent theory, came out of objections to the current scientific model, which posits that the Earth's Core maintains its temperature due to radioactive activity.

History

The Earth Alpha Theory's origin lies in 1983, when coauthors William Jukes and Patrick Haney, then professors of Geology at Westpoint University, first proposed a problem with the accepted scientific model. The main objection they had to the contemporary model was that the age of the earth, 4.8 billion years, was longer than the half life of any radioactive element. They proposed instead that the earth's core was heated by other means, though little progress in their research was made over the next nine years as the researchers pursued other projects. However, in 1992, the Lebanese Government, under president Elias Hrawi, agreed to fund further research into the origin of Earth's Temperature Gradient. With renewed vigor birthed by a sudden abundance of funds, Haney and Jukes devised an elaborate experiment in which a series of mirrors were used to peer down the bore of an underwater thermal vent. The resultant image was of a perplexing group of shadows, once again halting progress for several years. Though Haney and Stephen Hawking had a prototype of a shadow imaging interpreting device, funding from the Lebanese Government would not go towards further development in this area. However, Jukes was able to convince the Lebanese government to expand the terms of the grant in the wake of his masterful negotiation of the evacuation of Syrian troops from Lebanon, which he was in a unique position to do due to his PHD in Alawi Theology. Using this funding, Hawking and Haney were able to perfect the shadow imaging interpreting device.

With the new technology, Haney and Jukes discovered that the shadows had been cast by groups of fossils showing advanced skeletal structures. The source of the shadows themselves was also discerned as having been the fires started by the heating of decaying organic matter, thus resolving the heat issue and the light issue. Additionally, artifacts were found, which were dated to around 8 billion years BC. This suggests the presence of intelligent life prior to that which developed on the modern crust. Subsequent investigations also revealed strong evidence for the existence of an entire extinct biosphere.

Controversy

Some have argued that the conclusions Haney and Jukes found are questionable, citing the unreliable nature of the shadow imaging interpreting device in deep water environments.
