Eindhoven Airport Airport codes|EIN|EHEH is a regional airport near Eindhoven, Netherlands. In terms of the number of served passengers it's the second largest airport in the Netherlands, with 1.5 million passengers in 2007 (well behind Schiphol, which serves more than 48 million passengers).

The airport is used for both civilian and military traffic. From World War II up until a few years ago, Eindhoven Airport was called Welschap.

During World War II, it was extensively bombed. When construction started of the new Meerhoven district in the vicinity of the airport, many bombs were found and had to be defused.

On July 15 1996, a C-130 Hercules crashed at the airport. The plane caught fire and in the intense heat, 34 people died.

The founding MCCE countries are: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, The Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom. The Centre is staffed by 30 military and civilians personnel from the participating countries.

In July 2008 RTV Oost, a regional Dutch TV station, reported that the Dutch government is investigating the possibility of moving of military flights from Eindhoven Airport to Enschede Airport Twente, a former airforce base that currently sees little use. The possible move would involve the 334 and 336 Squadrons currently stationed at Eindhoven to make more room there for civilian flights and to keep Twente open as a military airbase.
