Isabelle of France, Queen of Navarre

Isabelle of France (2 March 1241- 17 April 1271) was the eldest child of Louis IX of France and Marguerite of Provence.

In 1258 Isabelle married Theobald II of Navarre, the marriage was childless.

In July 1270, Theobald embarked with his father-in-law on the Eighth Crusade to Tunis. Theobald died childless at Trapani in Sicily while returning that same year. He was succeeded by his younger brother Henry III of Champagne.

Isabella died aged thirty in 1271 and she is buried in Provins.

Isabelle's brother Philip succeded their father as King of France in 1270. Her sister called Agnes married Robert II, Duke of Burgundy and was the mother of Hugh V, Duke of Burgundy who succeded his father, Agnes also had two daughters called Margaret and Joan, both of them became Queen of France. Isabelle's aunt was Eleanor of Provence there for her cousins were, Edward I of England, Beatrice of England, Edmund Crouchback, 1st Earl of Lancaster and Margaret of England.
