The limited series started August 2008.

Plot

The story is set in a more pessimistic take on the War on Terror with further terrorist attack on the US mainland leading to the invasion of Iran, as well as the imposition of martial law back home. To make their troops more effective the US government start distributing pills which confer superpowers.

Reception

David Wallace reviewed the first issue for Comics Bulletin and concluded that "this is a solid debut that sets up the book's premise quickly and efficiently, and shows a lot of potential for the future." Film

In September 2008 it was announced that "War Heroes" had been optioned by Sony, with Michael DeLuca as producer and Millar taking an executive producer role.
