The 1933 Baffin Bay earthquake was a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Greenland and Nunavut, Canada at 6:21 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 20, 1933.[ [http://earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/historic_eq/20th/1933baffin_e.php Natural Resources Canada: The 1933 Baffin Bay earthquake] ] ]The main shock epicenter was located in Baffin Bay on the east coast of Baffin Island. The shaking associated with this earthquake was only felt at the small town of Upernavik, Greenland.
No damage was reported during this earthquake because of its offshore location and the small population of the nearby onshore communities.
