The USSR Championship ( _ru. Чемпионата СССР) was an ice hockey league that ran from 1946 to 1991. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the league was renamed the CIS Championship. This organization was the direct predecessor of the International Hockey League (IHL), and subsequent Russian Superleague (RSL) and modern Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Teams

The first cities to join the Soviet League were Moscow, Leningrad, Kaunas, Riga and Arkhangelsk.
