For this brilliant victory (1964), the "Cronica" newspaper pointed out the Mar del Plata City chess players quality and the influence of Cristobal Dominguez in this achievement with these words:

Dominguez, Argentinean Master winner of the Bahia Blanca Tournament in 1960 is the main responsible for this renaissance of Mar del Plata chess. There was a time, 15 years ago, in which Mar del Plata results where poor, but a new generation, leaded by Dominguez, with some young men showing their quality to the local and national public has born. Players like Serra, Serfaty, Vasta, Brond, De Urquía, shown that progress and study policy, the search for perfection, which Dominguez leaded and directed has its results.
"

Being one of the main characters on Mar del Plata chess he retired by middle 60's. But the sign he left on that young people was for sure his biggest contribution to local chess and stayed for a long time after his retirement.
