Admiral Sir Charles Carter Drury, GCB, GCVO, KCSI (August 27, 1846 – May 18, 1914) was a Canadian Royal Navy Admiral who went on to be Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel.

Naval career

Born in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Drury joined the Royal Navy and was made a sub-lieutenant in 1865. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1868, to Commander in 1878 and to Captain in 1885.[1] Drury was appointed Commanding Officer of the battleship HMS Hood in 1895.[2]

Promoted Rear Admiral in 1899, he went on to serve as Commander-in-Chief, East Indies Station from 1902 and then Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel from 1903.[3] He was promoted to Vice-Admiral in 1904, and became Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet from 1907 before being promoted to Admiral and becoming Commander-in-Chief, The Nore in 1908.[4][5] He retired in 1911.[1]

He was Aide-de-camp to Queen Victoria from 1897 to 1899.
