Choson Exchange

Choson Exchange is a Singapore-based non-profit organization with volunteers from China, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, North Korea and South Korea, and seeks to facilitate educational exchange with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The organization focuses on international trade, finance, economics strategy and business law education .[1]

Background

Choson Exchange began negotiations with the DPRK government in 2008. In 2009 the organization conducted its first program in Pyongyang and followed it up with an Economics Strategy and Finance workshop in 2010. 2010 also saw Choson Exchange introduce OpenCourseWare and wikibooks to DPRK educators and officials at the Pyongyang Science and Technology Book Fair .[2]

Current Projects

Choson Exchange organizes workshops in Pyongyang for young professionals, but is developing programs for North Korean students to intern and study-abroad in foreign countries.The organization is also preparing programs for North Korean students to take higher education courses in business, economics and finance and to intern in Singapore. Choson Exchange is also currently conducting a pilot project in Europe, where it has placed North Korean students as interns in the legal and business consulting fields.[3]
