Chronicles of Huayang

Chronicles of Huayang

The Chronicles of Huayang (simplified Chinese: 华阳国志; traditional Chinese: 華陽國志; pinyin: Huayangguo zhi), sometimes rendered in English as The Annals of Huayang Country or The Huayang National Annals or Records of the States South of Mount Hua or Annals of the Kingdoms South of Mount Hua, compiled by Chang Qu (常璩) (c.291-c.361 CE) during the Jin Dynasty (265–420), is the oldest extant gazetteer of a region of China. It includes an appendix entitled “A List of Gentlemen and Gentlewomen of Yi, Liang and Ning from the Former Han” (益梁寧三州先漢以來士女目錄) which can be useful for biographical research of the period.
