Indian Auteur (IA) is an English-language e-magazine and website devoted to film criticism. Established in 2009, it is published by NSFI, a New Delhi-based film initiative, involved in organizing film screenings and independent film production.

Overview

Indian Auteur covers both Indian and international cinema. As described on its website, the mission of the magazine is to "unravel the real heroes of Indian cinema, condemn its false ones, and restore film criticism to its respected position in the nation."^[1]

Indian Auteur began publication in February 2009. It features articles by both Indian and foreign writers, as well as interviews with domestic and international filmmakers and critics. Besides the magazine's regular staff, contributors have included Adrian Martin, Jonathan Rosenbaum, Nicole Brenez and Girish Shambu.

Available for free online, Indian Auteur is supported by donations and advertising.

Cine Darbaar

In addition to publishing a magazine, the staff of Indian Auteur operates a film club called Cine Darbaar.
