Circassians Majlis
The Adyghe national flag

Circassians Majlis (Adyghe: Хасэ ): Was a political and resistant unity which took place in 1860 after a meeting in Adyghe: (Шъачэ) -currently Sochi in Russia- between the leaders of three coastal Adyghe Tribes the (Shapsugs, Natukhai, and Ubykh under one leadership the (Majlis).

Majlis Literally means "the council" in the Arabic language.

The majlis consisted of the leaders of the three tribes, aimed to defend the western part of Circassia[1] and to free the eastern occupied Circassias' regions from the Russian Empire Army and their mercenaries during the Circassian-Russian War[2], in addition to send embassadors to the foreign countries to gain a support for the Circassians issue internationally.

The first resolution of the Majlis was to consider Adyghe: (Шъачэ) Sochi as a location for the Majlis and to consider it as a resistance capital for the three tribes and for whole Circassia and proclaimed a republic[3], and the remaining resolutions were to unit the tribes' flags under one flag instead of three flags, also to unit the fighters from all tribes under specific commanders, and to organize the attacks on the Russian recently created outposts on the Circassians coast.

Politically, the Majlis sent a delegations to the Ottoman Empire and Great Britain to gain support from both countries, however, both countries did not support the Majlis actually, and the support restricted only to promises.

In 1862 and as a result of the fall of the capital Sochi, the Majlis was dissolution by the occupiers by killing the leaders of the tribes, and the resistance moved to the Mountains of the Caucasus in Kbaada currently Krasnaya Polyana, and after two years in 1864 the resistance was finished due to the fall of Kbaada and all the nationalists were masacared on it, and the Russian Army announced the victory over Circassia in 21 May 1864.
