Clare Adamson

Clare Adamson (born 1 August 1967) MSP is an SNP Member of the Scottish Parliament and local government Councillor on North Lanarkshire Council.[1]

Biography

Adamson was born in Motherwell but grew up in Wishaw where her family moved aged 7. She graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with the degree of BSc (Distinction) in Computer Information Systems and is a Member of the British Computer Society and of the National Union of Journalists. She is married to John Adamson of Wishaw, a teacher, by whom she has one son. Her hobbies include painting and watching live music, particularly folk music. She and her husband are members of the National Trust for Scotland.

Political Life

Prior to her election Adamson worked for four years at the SNP Head Quarters Campaign Unit as Project Manager of the SNP’s Activate Project. Her last IT role was European Development Manager in a Glasgow-based software house. Since her election as a MSP she has taken an active role in the Scottish Accident Prevention Council and the Lanarkshire International Children's Games Organising Committee.

At Holyrood, Adamson represents the constituency of Central Scotland; she currently serves on the Education & Culture and the Equal Opportunities committees. Adamson remains a board member of North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust.

Previous Elections

Adamson previously stood for election to North Lanarkshire Council in 2003 and was the SNP Westminster candidate for Lanark & Hamilton East at the 2010 UK General Election.
