Sport Ancash was founded on April 22, 1967. The team played its home games at Rosas Pampa stadium. Due to the Construction of the Stadium, It plays its home games at "El estadio Municipal de Recuay" at 2442 meters above sea level. It hasn't had a championship since its foundation. The current head coach of Sport Ancash is Mario Flores.

History
The club was 2004 Copa Perú champion, when defeated Deportivo Municipal in the finals.
The club have played at the highest level of Peruvian football on five occasions, since its first participation in 2005 Torneo Descentralizado to the 2009 Torneo Descentralizado.
International Tournaments
In the 2008, in their first international participation, they were faced to the Ñublense of Chile by the Copa Sudamericana. They lost of visit 1-0 in Concepción and then they won 4-0 in Huancayo. In the second stage they were faced to the Palmeiras of Brazil, being eliminated after drawing 0-0 in Lima and to lose 1-0 in Sao Paulo.
