"Cold War" is a 2010 song by American singer Janelle Monáe. It is the second official single from The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) and her second to receive Pitchfork's coveted "Best New Music" tag. The single premiered on February 12, 2010 on Monáe's official website one day after "Tightrope" premiered on Pitchfork Media website.[1] Monae performed Cold War at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Music video

The music video premiered on August 5, 2010. The video is shot in one take, featuring Monáe from the shoulders up expressively singing. On Twitter, she referred to the video as an "emotion picture."[2]

Remix

There is one remix of the song titled "Cold War (Wondamix)". Part of this remix can be heard at the beginning of the "Tightrope" music video.

Live Performances

Monae performed a shortened version of the song on February 13, 2011 at the 53rd Grammy Awards, as part of a 3-song medley, with BoB and Bruno Mars.
