Collegiate Orchestra Origin Dunedin, New Zealand Genres Classical Years active 1970s–present The Collegiate Orchestra in Dunedin, New Zealand began as a training orchestra for student music teachers at the Dunedin College of Education in the late 1970s. Later, memberships were open to students, staff and alumni of the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic, as well as the general public.
The Collegiate Orchestra is now based at the University of Otago Faculty of Education and members are made up of general students and alumni of the University of Otago as well as the Dunedin community. It holds a main concert per semester, in addition to Christmas concerts, church services and musical events in the community, such as the Rhododendron Day and Dunedin Society of Women Musicians Concerts.
