Crème de banane is a yellow, transparent, sweet, banana flavored liqueur with roughly 17-25% ABV.

Usage

Crème de banane is primerely used in alcoholic drinks. However it does have uses in cooking.

Cooking

Crème de banane can be used as a syrup on frozen desserts or in some baked dishes to add a massive boost of banana flavor.

Beverages

Crème de banane is generally preferred in cocktails, but is also a pleasant drink on the rocks with the sweet taste it brings.

King Kong Cola

Producers

Many companies such as Marie Brizard, Lucas Bols and De Kuyper Royal Distillers of the Netherlands make the liqueur; it is based on neutral-tasting, un-aged grape brandy, flavored by infusion or maceration.

Recipe

Recipe for Homemade Creme de Banana

  • 2 medium-sized bananas, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or a 2" length of vanilla bean
  • 1 cup sugar syrup
  • 3 cups vodka
  1. Mash the bananas, and add the vanilla and cooled syrup to the vodka.
  2. Shake gently, steep for 1 week. Strain and filter. Drink now, or age 2–3 months for best results.
  3. Double the sugar for "Creme de Banana".

Optional flavorings: a pinch of cloves, a piece of cinnamon stick.
