The Daily Excelsior is an English-language newspaper published from Jammu city, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It has been published since January 1, 1965 and claims to be the most widely circulated English daily newspaper in the state. It has a daily circulation of 190,000 according to its website.[1] Its current editor in chief is S.D. Rohmetra.

Online edition
It has an extensive website and an Internet edition which started in October 1998. The online archives go back to October 21, 1998. But unfortunately due to Virus Attack all of the archives till December 31, 2009 were lost and now only archive from January 1, 2010 are available on the online Edition.
Journalist death
On May 11, 2008 one of its photo journalists Ashok Sodhi was killed while photographing an armed confrontation between terrorists and security forces in the Samba District of Jammu & Kashmir. He’d moved closer to capture better coverage of the confrontation when a stray bullet hit him.[2][3]
