He is a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the Liberal Party. He was elected in the 2010 general election and represents the electorate of Wannon, succeeding David Hawker.
Tehan studied at the University of Melbourne completing a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science. He has also gained masters degrees in International Relations and Foreign Affairs & Trade from the University of Kent and Monash University respectively. As an adviser in the Howard Government, Tehan was a senior adviser to the Minister for Trade and spent two years as the Chief of Staff to the Minister for Small Business and Tourism.[1]
