Dangerous Dan is a comic strip in The Beano drawn by Nigel Parkinson. The strip debuted in August 2011 ^[1]. The strip is about a young black boy who thinks he is a secret agent. The character believes that an organisation called SMIRK, (Secret Ministry of Intelligent Rotters Komittee) an acronym explained in every strip up until issue 3600^[2], is conspiring against him. However by issue 3601 ^[3] it turns out that SMIRK is a real organisation out to get Dangerous Dan. According to Nigel Parkinson's blog the character's final (sixth) episode is nearing but a Reader's poll will decide whether the character stays or not. ^[4]

Another character called Dangerous Dan had appeared earlier as a character in The Dandy's Desperate Dan. This Dangerous Dan was a rival to Desperate Dan and had the full name Dangerous Dan McGroo.^[5]
