TalibanDarul Uloom Haqqania (Urdu: دار العلوم حقانیہ) is an Islamic religious seminary located in Akora Khattak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. The seminary propagates the Deobandi trend of Sunni Islam and was founded along the lines of Darul Uloom Deoband.
It is most famous for having many senior leaders of the Afghanistan Taliban among its alumni, including Mullah Omar, and its role in supporting the Taliban.[1][2] The seminary is run by Maulana Sami ul Haq of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.[3]
The seminary has sometimes been dubbed the "University of Jihad".[4]
Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency has claimed that the plan to assassinate Benazir Bhutto was hatched at Haqqania Akora Khattak[5]
Darul Uloom Haqqania gave Mullah Omar an honorary doctorate.[6]
