French ship Swiftsure (1801)

HMS "Swiftsure", she was a 74-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, built at Deptford and launched on 4 April 1787.

She fought at the Battle of the Nile in 1798, and was captured by the French ships "Indivisible" and "Dix-Août" in the Mediterranean on the 24 June 1801.Fact|date=September 2008

She fought on the French side at the Battle of Trafalgar, where she was re-captured by the British, on 21 October 1805.Fact|date=September 2008

She was recommissioned in the Royal Navy as HMS "Irresistible", since another British "Swiftsure" had been built since, and was used as a prison ship.

She was scrapped in Chatham in 1816.
