David Mark Hudgens (born December 5, 1956) is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman and currently the hitting coach for the New York Mets.[1] He played for the Oakland Athletics during the 1983 season.[2] He attend Arizona State University from 1975-1978.

Playing Career

Dave was drafted by the Mets in the first round in January of 1975 and then by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round in June of 1977. He didn't sign with any team. He made his day view for Oakland on September 4,1983 and made his last on October 1,1983.

Coaching Career

From 1985-1988 he managed in the Athletics minor league system for the Medford A's,Pocatello A's. In the minor leagues he played 6 years in the minors with Oakland for 6 games and played for the Cleveland Indians in 1983. He even served as the Assistant Director of Player Development for Oakland from 1996-1998 and from 2000-2002. He also managed in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League for Leones del Caracas with a record of 35-28 during the winter of 2009.

Since 2011 he joined as the Hitting Coach for the Mets.
