David Gannon is an Irish rugby union player who currently plays for RaboDirect PRO12 side Connacht Rugby[2] after a season with the Southland Stags in the 2009 Air New Zealand Cup.[3]

Rugby History

In 2004, Gannon captained the Ireland Under 21 in the Under 21 Rugby World Championship side while playing for UCD. The side made the final before losing to the New Zealand team 47-19. In 2005, he signed to play for Connacht in the Magners League where he would play until his services were no longer required in late 2008. He went six months with out a club before signing with Air New Zealand Cup side Southland. The team won New Zealand's most prestigious rugby trophy the Ranfurly Shield for the teams first time in 50 years.[4] After a successful season in December 2009, he joined Exeter Chiefs in the RFU Championship.

Gannon Rejoins Connacht - just signed for a one-year deal with Connacht, the Dublin-born forward said: "I'm excited to be back in Connacht and I'm looking forward to a big season ahead." (reference http://www.irishrugby.ie/news/23932.php)
