David Lyons (born January 23, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former swimmer from the United States, who competed at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He won the gold medal in the men's 4×200 m freestyle relay event at the 1963 Pan American Games. Lyons early competitive swimming was at New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL, under coach Dave Robertson. He was part of the high school national championship team in 1961. The team later placed third in the 1961 AAU championships. In 1961, he was the ssecond swimmer to go under 1:50 for the 200 yard freestyle, Steve Clark of Yale doing it one day earlier. After New Trier, Lyons swam at Yale. Lyons later earned both MBA and M.D. degrees.
