Dedhar

Dedhar or Dedha (also spelt as Dader and Deaded,but DEDHAR and DADER are most accepted) is one of the ruling clans of the Gurjars.According to the Gurjar Bhaats (priests which keep family records of the Gurjars), Dedhars were branch of the Gurjar Pratihars. Like Gurjar Pratihars, Gurjar Dedhas also claim to be descended from Raghuvamshi Lakshmana, the younger brother of Rama.

Demographics

The majority of Gurjar Dedhas reside in Northern India.There are also Gujjar Dedhars in Pakistan, who are said to come from a Indian village Samote of Surankote, Kashmir.Some of the important Gurjar Dedhar/Dader places are: Kupwara (Hangnikoot, Hafrada,Goose), Baramulla(Tangmarg),Poonch, Rajouri and some other districts of Jammu and Kashmir,Pramekot, Rahimkot, Riat, Dadyal, Mirpur, Bhalot Chowk (Mirpur), Mandi Village (Ddayal), Saliah Village (Dayal), Kund (Dadyal), Kotli, Sehnsa, (Khoi Ratta, Anderla Kothera, Shaheen Abad, Dakkhana, Phalini, Khor, Ghayeen, Kerjai, Barali Gala, Nidi Sohana etc.

In the Nakiyal District-Kotli, the Gujjars are majority and they are said to be dominating in this region. The common Gujjars villages in Teh Nakiyal are Nirgal, Karaila, Lanjot, Mhandethar, Balmi, Narran ni Tarrar, Bhandi, Tharkundi, Palani, Jair, Mohrha sharief, Khandhar, Supply, Phanag, Bagh (Haveli), Hajirah, Abbaspour Bura Jungle.Muzaffarabad and Neelum District,

In new delhi dedhas have twenty four villages, all are in trans yamuna areasuch as ..old seelampur village, gazipur,ghonda,maujpur,dayalpur,khjuri,khichdipur,ghondli,kondli,chilla,karawal nagar etc. 

It is said that most of them in Pakistan adopted Islam during seventeenth century.

Mian Mohammed Bakhsh the famous poet is also a famous personality belonging to the Dedhar Clan This clan is well settelled in district gujrat / Province Punjab of Pakistan and they are called as Chaudhary in their area. One very prominent figure and rising dhedhar gujjar is 'Chaudhary Muhammad Irfan Sadiq' from Gujrat Pakistan whop is presently serving as Lietenant colonel in Pakistan Army. Template:Gujar clans
