Deviant UK is an English electronic band. It is the solo project of Jay "Deviant" Smith, formed in 2004. When playing live, Smith is joined by other live musicians.[1]

Background

Deviant UK formed in 2004 as an electronic band. The name was picked as it was how the frontman described his outlook on life. Smith decided to start the band because he wanted to be involved the 'Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll' of musicians.[2] The first album was released in October 2006, named 'Barbed Wire Star'. It was met to considerable critical acclaim with songs such as 'Access Denied' and 'Raptured Saints' being played on dance floors across Europe.[3][4] They have supported many bands involved in the current electronic scene including VNV Nation.[5] After this, they released their first remix EP in 2010 including remixes from Surgyn and 19ninetynine,[6] as well as recording a track with Project Pitchfork. [7] In 2011 Deviant UK will be releasing their second album, titled 'Very Bad Things'.[8]
