Doctor Who DVD Files is a fortnightly partwork magazine published by GE Fabbri, authorised by 2 entertain and BBC Worldwide.[1] Each issue consists of a magazine and a DVD.

The magazine was launched on 14 January 2009 throughout the UK and Ireland after a regional test in the north-east of the UK (from September 2008). It is edited by Claire Lister and the project manager is Ben Robinson. On 7 September 2009 Doctor Who DVD Files became available in Australia as a fortnightly release.

Magazine

The magazine is divided into seven sections[1][2]:
The Doctor - Briefly describes each the doctors known adventures as well as a sum up of each doctor;
Allies - Briefly sums up each companion and people who have helped the doctor;
Enemies - Briefly sums up all enemies the doctor has faced extra pages for the more famous enemies such as the Daleks and the Master etc.;
Episode Guides - Briefly sums up the episodes/serials on the DVD;
Technology - Takes a look at some pieces of technology seen in the series such as the Tardis, Sonic screwdriver and Bessie, the Doctors car;
Behind-the - Scenes-Often has interviews with people involved with the series;
Flashback - Which looks at classic doctor who adventures.

With Issue 51, two new dividers were added, Who on Earth and Alien Worlds.
Who on Earth - chronicles the Doctor's involvement in the history of the planet;
Alien Worlds - is your Guide to some of the weird and wonderful places that the Doctor has visited.

Subscribing to the Doctor Who DVD Files meant that you were sent 2 issues and the accompanying DVDs once a month. In subscribing collectors saved £1 of each issue and received three series 3 action figures and a simple DVD storage unit as free gifts. Notably collectors in their third month of subscription received a further gift of a bonus DVD of "The Movie" starring Paul McGann. In Australia, though, subscribers were not sent the bonus DVD of "The Movie", but were instead sent an extra action figure.[3]
