South Side Bank (former)[3]Spouse Diane Cullinan Oberhelman[1][2][4] Douglas R. "Doug" Oberhelman, born 1952/1953 (age 58–59),[5] is the head of Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, Illinois. He succeeded Jim Owens as CEO on July 1, 2010 and as Chairman of the Board on November 1, 2010.[3][5]
Oberhelman was raised in Woodstock, Illinois, and his dad was a John Deere salesman.[2] Oberhelman attended Millikin University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated with a bachelor degree, and joined Caterpillar immediately afterwards in 1975.[2][3] He become a Caterpillar Vice President in 1995, serving as Chief Financial Officer from 1995 to 1998.[3][5]
Oberhelman was on the board of Ameren until April 27, 2010.[6] His wife, Diane Oberhelman, is chairwoman of Cullinan Properties Ltd.[1][4] They hosted Laura Bush at their home for a political fundraiser for Republican congressman Aaron Schock in September 2010.[1]
