The wheel is 60 metres (200 ft) tall, less than half the height of the 135 m (443 ft) London Eye, and was fabricated in the Netherlands. It weighs 350 tons, has 42 capsules, and a capacity of 336 people.[1] Its cost is estimated at €8-10m.[2]

Nicknames

Many of Dublin's statues and other monuments have acquired nicknames. One early suggestion for the Wheel of Dublin, in a letter to the Irish Times, was "The pi in the sky".[3]
