Dynamic producer

Dynamic producer

Dynamic Producer is a membership-based music/record producer organization located in Atlanta, Georgia aimed at supporting the advancement of up and coming producers through Education and Opportunity. It is committed to creating platforms for members to learn about the history of music, the business behind the music, as well as current events and trends. It also provides opportunities for members to expose their music to the music industry at large.

Dynamic Producer gives support to producers who understand the need to work hard to develop their skills with a need to establish themselves in the major music community.[1][2]

History

In the summer of 1999, in Cleveland, Ohio, Felisha Booker, Dynamic Producer's founder and current CEO[3], was inspired by a local MC wanting to start making beats, to create and develop a conference geared for music producers looking to break into the music industry. At that time, Felisha Booker was working as an A&R/Manager/Songwriter for Unem Entertainment Group, and independent record label based in Cleveland, OH. The first such conference, called "Ear To Da Streets", took place in July 2002 in New York City. The 3-day event was attended by industry executives and major music producers including Wendell Hanes, Pete Rock, and Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, and songwriter Kanye West. Ear To Da Streets was renamed "Dynamic Producer" in the fall of 2002, as the former sounded too common.

West attended the conference again in 2003, presenting himself as an artist, along with then-unsigned artist John Legend. West later signed to Rocafella/Def Jam Recordings and Legend signed to G.O.O.D. Music/Sony BMG. That same year, music producer Troy Taylor presented Trey Songz. In 2004, music producer Chucky Thompson attended the annual conference and presented J Records recording artist Emily King. That same year Grammy award-winning songwriter Mary Brown attended the conference and presented her artist Qiana. By 2005, Dynamic Producer began to grow as a bonafide resource for aspiring producers to break into the music industry and for established producers to promote their artists. In 2006, DP's Founder, Felisha Booker wrote and released The 10 Track Commandments, which was met with rave reviews[citation needed] from producers and various media outlets. Dynamic Producer adopted a theme called 'The Many Faces Of A Dynamic Producer' in 2007, aimed at creating additional programming for the many hats a producer can wear to be successful.

To date, Dynamic Producer has, in one way or another, assisted the following producers in building a name for themselves within the major music community while producing tracks used for TV and for known recording artists:[4]

  • Beat Banggahz
  • Jim Bond[5]
  • Versatile
  • Parfino
  • Dilemma
  • Rony Arzoumanian
  • Judah
  • Trackheads
  • Frequency
  • Wrightrax[6]
  • M16
  • KJ
  • Fuego
  • Sean Tre

In the spring of 2008, Dynamic Producer partnered with Hollywood Records and Jesse McCartney for its first official remix competition. The contest garnered a mention in Billboard Magazine and helped fuel Jesse McCartney's single 'I'm Leavin'. The grand prize winner was Eye-Q and the runner up was L-Precise. In the fall of 2008, the group hired Jim Bond as their new Executive Director, in charge of creating opportunities for the members of DP and building industry wide strategic partnerships.[7]
