Jessica D. Sferrazza is a member of the Reno City Council representing Ward 3 in Reno, Nevada.[1] She is currently serving her third term after being reelected in November 2008.

Background

Sferrazza graduated from Sparks High School. She is currently in the process of obtaining a Certified Public Official Program Certificate from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Appointments

Sferrazza is currently the President of the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities[2] She also is currently a Member of the Flood Project Coordinating Committee and a Member of the Finance Subcommittee for the Building Enterprise Fund.[3][4]

Legislative history

Sferrazza is most well-known for her work revitalizing severally previously blighted areas of the City, with particular attention to the Wells Avenue corridor and the Oliver/Montello neighborhoods.[5] She also initiation the creation of a bond question to construct and consolidate a regional animal shelter in 2002, which received 60% voter approval,[6] and created the Affordable Housing Task Force in 2006, bringing together members of the business community and partners in affordable housing.[7]

Candidate for Nevada Lt. Governor

On June 8, 2010 Sferrazza won the Nevada Democratic Primary in a four way race, to become the Democratic party's nominee against Republican incumbent Brian Krolicki for Nevada Lieutenant Governor.[8]
