MagLev is the name of a 64-bit Ruby virtual machine with an integrated persistent cache developed by GemStone. Based on GemStone's Smalltalk Virtual machine,[1] MagLev compiles Ruby to bytecode, which is then compiled to native machine code using a just-in-time compiler.[2] MagLev was first revealed publicly at RailsConf 2008.[3] MagLev 1.0.0 was released on 31-Oct-2011.
