Radha

A half-elf, half-Keldon warlord born in Skyshroud. During Time Spiral, Teferi enlists her services and skills in aiding him in repairing the time rifts that threaten to destroy the multiverse. She refuses and concentrates on her 'host of barbarians and elves. During Future Sight she is abducted by Jeska and used to close the rift in Zhalfir. Multani manages to free her but she is recaptured by Jeska and used to close the rift in Yavimaya, which she survives but loses her planeswalker's spark. Later she is again free and along with Venser tries to help Jeska close the Otarian rift. She is last seen back amongst her host. She is the granddaughter of the Keldon warrior Astor, and wields his kukri blade in battle. (Cards: Fatal Frenzy, Radha, Heir to Keld, Undying Rage)

Radiant

She was a proud archangel lieutenant of Serra who appeared between the Urza's Saga and Urza's Legacy expansions. Fleeing from the Phyrexians, Urza planeswalked to Serra's Realm, where he befriended Serra herself and stayed several years to heal his wounds. After he left, the Phyrexians began to taint the plane. Although Archangel Radiant and her warrior-angels fought back, the Phyrexians' taint was unremovable and Serra fled in grief. The corrupted Radiant blamed the humans for Serra's departure and a civil war broke out. Later, Urza returned to Serra's Realm, hoping to help the plane recover. As the plane began to weaken, Urza realized that the Phyrexians had instigated the war, and instead rescued the humans and most of the angels. The now-insane Radiant battled him and was able to take his eyes out, paralyzing him. She took him to Serra's mirrored throne room and tried to fuse the two stones. Energy sparked from them, and rebounded because of the mirrors. The energy grew exponentially, blinding her. She realized she was the mad one, and seconds later, was incinerated. (Card: Radiant, Archangel)

Raganorn

An archaeologist. (Card: Murk Dwellers)

Raghib

Once a student of El-Hajjaj and betrothed to Nailah. During her quest to achieve power through the fusion of the five Taysirs, Nailah cursed Raghib with incurable leprosy and banished him. He was found by the Dervish and Nomad Taysirs, to whom he explained Nailah's plan.

Ragnar

A legendary barbarian. (Legends; Card: Ragnar).

Likely based on the Viking king Ragnar Lodbrok, a gifted military leader who adventured around the world as a pirate and raider. Ragnar's card features a raven in the background, a symbol of the god Odin.

Rakdos

Rakdos, the Defiler, is a demonlord Guildmaster who leads the Cult of Rakdos. He employs mainly goblins and minotaurs, and seeks to create chaos and anguish in the streets of Ravnica. His interpretation of a "good time" is usually all about crushing some little human. In Dissension he was awakened by Myczil, after which he nearly destroyed the entire city, but was stopped by the Simic Experiment Kraj (Card: Rakdos the Defiler) (Ravnica)

Raksha Golden Cub

A legendary leonin kha on Mirrodin. He was friends with Glissa. He was framed of the destruction of Taj-Nar, the ancient throne of the Leonin Prides. After this, he traveled to the Green Nexus, where he was soon reunited with Glissa. They fought against Memnarch together along with Slobad and Geth. (Card: Raksha Golden Cub)

Ramirez DePietro

A flamboyant pirate. Presumably killed by Halfdane.

Ramos

A dragon engine transported to Mercadia during the Sylex blast of the Brothers' War. Ramos wept, and there were seas. Ramos touched, and there was life. Ramos smiled, and there was day. Ramos fell, and there was night. Ramos bled, and there was fire. Ramos died, and there was hell.

  • Ramos was originally a Phyrexian dragon engine. Urza took him and transformed him to fight Mishra and help people, rescuing the wounded from the (Urza's) battlefield. When Urza unleashed the Sylex blast, Ramos flew ahead of it. He saw some merfolk and picked them up. He saw a galley and saved it along with the refugees inside; however, the weight slowed him and the blast caught him. Ramos, and the people he saved were blasted to Phyrexia. The people would die in Phyrexia, so Ramos, using the last of his strength, took them through a nearby portal he knew and into Mercadia. Both he and the people were on fire. Seeing their distress, Ramos's heart broke, and fell into the sea, becoming the Power Matrix. He put the merfolk into the sea, the ship's crew on the sand at Rishada, and some of the refugees in Rushwood, extinguishing the flames. When he saw that the rest were dead, he sprinkled their corpses in Deepwood. Energy gone and heartless Ramos and the ship, both burning, fell and crashed. The impact killed thousands, all because he had sought to save hundreds. His soul shattered. Time passed and life gradually returned. Ramos got up. Five pieces of his core were loose. Ramos set these on an altar to represent the ones who had died. He made Ouramos sacred, enlivened dryads from the trees, and raised the dead people in Deepwood to serve him. But he could not heal the world.
  • The Peliam: Ramosans have a legend/prophecy of Ramos. It isn't true, but it is believed by many on Mercadia and is based on the story above: There was once a great battle between the gods Ramos and Orhop. Orhop, the evil god, was defeated. Ramos, seeing the destruction of the war, gathered the people and brought them to a better world. When he arrived, he was struck by an object in the sky. Ramos fell from the heavens and broke into three parts, Mind, Body, and Soul. The Cho-Arrim were borne on the Soul into the forest. The Saprazzans fell with the mind into the sea. Some on his body fell off and became Rishadans. Those that held on burned to death and now guard his Bones. All evils in the world exist because Ramos is broken. One day Ramos will return as a great metallic dragon, and if his parts were brought together, he will unite the world and banish evil. The Cho-Arrim believe that the Weatherlight is the Soul of Ramos. They saw it appear, soaring brightly through the sky and crash. The Saprazzans believe that the Power Matrix is his Mind. The five Bones of Ramos lie in Ouramos. Both the Power Matrix and the five powerstones called the Bones of Ramos are part of the Legacy. The Legacy was never built to fit together, they were merely a collection of powerful artifacts written by Urza, but...

Ramses Overdark

Also known as "Lord Dark", Ramses served as the Imperial Assassin of Madara. He used his position to acquire great magical power as well as capture many powerful beings to serve under him. He was the constant rival of the Imperial Champion, Tetsuo Umezawa; both being placed in positions of technically equal power, while having different goals. Through his schemes he was eventually able to gain the position of Regent over all of Madara, while at the same time forcing Tetsuo to become an outlaw. As Regent he was tasked with capturing & destroying the ex-champion, but he found it to be a harder task then he could have imagined. As each of his schemes and carefully laid plans fell apart, he was eventually forced to face Tetsuo himself. Tetsuo defeated Ramses in the imperial shrine, and captured his essence, which he then crafted into a mind shattering spell he used against Emperor Bolas before killing him. (Legends Card:Template:Mtg)

Rashida Scalebane

Zhalfirin dragon hunter. As an idle young daughter of a wealthy family, she grew up quickly when several dragons sent by Kaervek and Jolrael incinerated her village, leaving her the sole survivor. She swore to wipe dragons from Jamuura and took the name Scalebane after the family heirloom - a banesword. Rashida became a Zhalfirin hero, leading an army of commoners. She has slayed more than a dozen dragons, turning their hides into armor for her warriors. Driven by dreams and visions sent by Teferi she united with the other leaders of Jamuura to rescue Mangara. For this mission, she was accompanied by an elite guard (Scalebane’s Elite: Kulinda, Jerran and Forena). The amber prison proved to be guarded by the Panther warrior Purraj and a number of foul creatures. Rashida saw that she and her troops were losing, so she donned a dragon mask to imbue her with superhuman strength and speed. After defeating Kaervek’s forces in a dizzying attack she sank to the ground, stunned and horrified at what she had to become in order to succeed.

Rashka the Slayer

A legendary vampire hunter. Legend tells of a lady whose family fell prey to a vampiric horde roaming the wastelands of Singcang. She vowed that her family's soul will be released from the curse of the undead by eliminating all vampires. A young Dominarian recruited by Xantcha, Urza's Phyrexian assistant. Xantcha sought out Ratepe in order to impersonate Mishra, Urza's long dead brother, hoping to jar Urza out of his downward spiral of regret and madness. Ratepe proved to be a more-than-capable liar. Thanks to Xancha's coaching and Ratepe's ability to hear Urza's Weakstone singing to him, Ratepe was able to help shock Urza out of his guilt. He continued to help Urza and eventually became Xantcha's lover. Both Ratepe and Xantcha were killed when Urza fought the Phyrexian demon Gix in Koilos.

Ravi

A Planeswalker who ended the war between the Tolgath and the Elder Ones by sounding the Apocalypse Chime and by that almost destroyed Ulgrotha. She locked herself unwillingly away in a Vault. Centuries later, old and raving mad, she was freed by Baron Sengir. He adopted her as a part of his unconventional family, dubbing Ravi "Grandmother Sengir". Baron Sengir's adoption of her is ironic, for it was he who had taught her the very first spell she knew, with which she slew his father in vengeance for her plague slain village.

It is revealed in Time Spiral that her choice to ring the Apocalypse Chime ruptured the Madaran rift on Dominaria and caused it to fracture into Kamigawa, which allowed the events of Kamigawa to transpire.

Ravidel

A wilder planeswalker, untrained and dangerous.

Originated on Azoria, one of the twelve worlds of the Shard. Dragonfriend of Rhuell the chromium dragon. Mentored and later betrayed by Faralyn. Killed by Tevesh Szat and Leshrac and resurrected by Kristina of the Woods.

In his wrath he became a wargod and battlemage. Swore revenge on Kristina for resurrecting him. Later he was mentored by Taysir and became ruler of Stonehaven in Corondor. In The year 1 according to the Mages in Minorad he disturbed the Summit of Minorad. He threatened to destroy the world with the Golgothian Sylex. As the leader of the Summit Kristina surrendered. After the Mages promised not to interfere with Ravidel they were banned from Minorad, so that the city could go on undisturbed for almost 1300 years.

Exactly 1276 years later Ravidel broke his promise, he returned and destroyed the city and western Corondor in search for the moxes which would help him to recall his master Taysir. He then was almost defeated by the shadowmage Jared Carthalion. He traced Liana who had the moxes but she managed to give them to Jared before she died. Jared then destroyed the Golgothian Sylex. But Ravidel regains the moxes and uses them to recall Taysir (and Daria?) [1].

Later he battled Sandruu on an unnamed plane, then had a proposed free-for-all with the Minotaur planeswalker and other powerful entities after summoning them with his Mox Beacon. (Magic: Battlemage).

Rayne

Chancellor of the Tolarian Academy, wife of Barrin, and mother of Hanna. She was known for putting opposition to many of Urza's projects contrary to the zealous-confidence of Barrin. Rayne participated in the Prophecy War on Jamuraa after feeling she shouldn't send her students into battle while she stayed safely behind. Successfully performing a number of scouting and leading duties on the battlefield, her fortunes turned when an explosion threw her from her mount. Her broken state left her unable to defend herself against evil minion Greel, who killed her after she reflected, "It was a good life." Barrin avenged her death in rage by ending Latulla's last stand and later by making a funeral pyre of the phyrexian-overrun Tolarian Academy.(Urza’s Destiny, Prophecy) (Card: Rayne, Academy Chancellor)

Using foreign technology Razia and the other Boros angels built the Parthelion, an immense flying fortress in order to investigate the limits of the Ravnica plane. After successfully entering Agyrem, Razia and all the other Boros angels were assaulted by a ghost army led by Szadek. Feather, who had not gone with them at first, was the only angel to survive, though they held out for a while. (Ravnica) (Card: Razia, Boros Archangel)

Rebbec

A Thran architect, wife of Glacian. Yawgmoth was enamored of her, but she was constantly torn between him and her husband. She gradually grew concerned at his astonishing rise to power within Halcyon, and was often shocked at the callous brutality used to achieve his status. She had already made several quiet rebellions against him before discovering that he was deliberately keeping Glacian infected with phthisis. She sealed the door between Yawgmoth's Phyrexia and Dominaria just as one of Yawgmoth's mana bombs destroyed the city and everyone in it. Millennia later, Yawgmoth is still enamoured of her, and his first appearance on Dominaria during the Apocalypse causes him to see Rebbec in everything there.

Herein, he learned to use yew poison as a sort of battle magic.
