After receiving his medical degree in internal medicine and his Ph.D. in brain and Cognitive Science, Nader worked as a clinical and research fellow at a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He worked with Deepak Chopra at the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center in Massachusetts and in 1995 published a book called Human physiology: expression of Veda and the Vedic literature. In 2008, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, leader and guru of the Transcendental Meditation movement, named Nader as his successor, calling him "Raja Nader Raam" or "Adi Ram".[2][3] After the Maharishi's death, Nader was renamed "Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam".[4]

Education
Nader comes from a Christian Lebanese background. According to his website,[5] Nader obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, and studied internal medicine and psychiatry. He received a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the field of brain and Cognitive Science, and has worked as a clinical and research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.[6]
Ayurvedic and Vedic research
In the 1980s, Nader was on the staff of the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts, which was operated at the time by Deepak Chopra.[7] Nader was mentioned in a 1991 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association about possible conflict of interest problems with researchers of Maharishi Ayurveda.[8] He was described as overstating his connections to both Harvard University and MIT, and mis-characterizing his research at MIT.[9]
Nader developed a theory that there is a one-to-one correlation between 40 aspects of Vedic literature and 40 parts of human physiology.[10] He has also found similarities between the astrological influence of the planets and parts of the human brain. He published this research in the book Human physiology: expression of Veda and the Vedic literature in 1995 (ISBN 9788175230170). In recognition of his discoveries, and to fund his continued work, he was awarded his weight in gold in 1998 with the support of the Maharishi Global Development Fund.[11] Nader was photographed sitting on an oversized balance, the other pan piled with gold bars.[12][13]
Nader did the first research on the application of Vedic sound with Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology (MVVT). Nader's studies were conducted in Berlin, Paris, and Valkenburg, testing the effectiveness of one session of MVVT in people with disorders that included arthritis, asthma and gastrointestinal disorders.[14]
In April 2000, Nader, as president of Maharishi University of Management (Holland), issued a statement to celebrate "the dawn of a New World Order of Peace, as demonstrated by the invincibility of President Fidel Castro of Cuba, the freedom of President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, the Divine Rulership of President Abdurrahman Wahid of Indonesia, and the casting off of corrupt democracy by President Robert Guei of the Ivory Coast.[15][16][17]
Reign

The Global Country of World Peace was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on October 7, 2000.[18] During a four-day Vedic ceremony starting October 12, Nader was crowned by the Maharishi, who gave him the title of "Vishwa Prashasak Raja Raam".[19] Thus Nader became the First Sovereign Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace and Maharishi's appointed successor. The Global Country of World Peace (GCWP) is administered by Nader and 32 local rajas (administrators) in accordance with the Maharishi's views of Natural Law.[citation needed]
In 2002, Raja Bob Wynne, mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, invited the Maharaja to take up residence at The Mansion, the capital of the GCWP.[20] Following the Maharishi's death in 2008, Nader assumed the name "Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam".[4] According to a spokesman, Rajaraam will reign in silence and communicate through his governing council.[21]
Nader is married with two children.
