Makoto Wada (和田誠, Wada Makoto^?) is a Japanese illustrator, essayist and film director.

After graduating Tama Art University, he established himself as a graphic designer. As an illustrator, he drew many cartoons and caricatures for Shinichi Hoshi and Haruki Murakami.

Being a passionate film fan, he started his career as a film director in 1984. He won the award for best director at the 31st Blue Ribbon Awards for Kaitō Ruby.^[1]

Since 1972, Wada has been married to Remi Hirano, the granddaughter of Henry Pike Bowie. Their son, Sho Wada, is the guitarist and vocalist of Triceratops.
