South Africa

Malaysia-South African relations (Malay: Hubungan Malaysia–Afrika Selatan) refers to the current and historical relationship between Malaysia and South Africa. Formal relations were established in 1993 and, in 2010, Malaysia was the fourth largest new investor in South Africa.[1]

Malaysia was a strong opponent of the apartheid regime in South Africa;[2] its prime minister during the 1980s, Mahathir Mohamad, was a leading proponent of economic sanctions.[3][4]

Trade

In 2010, Malaysia was South Africa's 20th largest total trade partner with roughly 4.8 million Rand in volume.[5]
