Monastir Military High School
NI Institute and Museum BitolaThe Monastir Military High School (Manastır Askerî İdadisi ) was one of the three year educational military high school of the Ottoman Empire. It was located in Monastir (present day Bitola, Republic of Macedonia). The building of school have been used as a museum (today NI Institute and Museum Bitola) since 1934.
It was established in 1847 as a preparatory school for the Ottoman Military Academy. In 1846, Constantinople Military High School (Kuleli Military High School) and Bursa Military High Shcool, in 1847, Edirne Military High School and Monastir Military High School, in 1848, Damascus Military High School were formed. Later in 1873, Erzurum Military High School and in 1876, Baghdad Military High School were also established.
